A video from a smartphone went viral when it recorded the police pushing Alton Sterling onto the hood of the car. The video shows the police tackling and wrestling the guy to the ground. The police officers even tased the man as they tried to bring him in. One officer suddenly yelled "he has a gun!" before both officers hoist their guns and shoot him five times.
The man died from bullet wounds in his back and chest instantly. The police department says that it is investigating the shooting, as hundreds of protesters took to the street to demonstrate; #black lives matter.
"Baton Rouge Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred around 12:35 am this morning at 2112 North Foster Dr, Triple S Food Mart." Said Baton Rouge Police Department, on their official Facebook page. "Uniformed officers responded to a disturbance call from a complainant who stated that a black male who was selling music CD's and wearing a red shirt threatened him with a gun."
The owner of the store quickly jumped to the deceased defense, saying that Alton did not reach for his pocket before he was shot. The police department has not confirmed if Alton actually had a gun at this moment. The police were also wearing cameras during the incident, but somehow both came loose and could not visualize anything.
