A girl who converted to Islam has been convicted of planning to bomb a Jewish school after trying to contact terror group ISIS.

The 17-year-old Jihadist sympathizer could spend the rest of her life in jail after being accused of planning attacks with bombs manufactured from over-the-counter products.

A court in Holbaek was told the girl, who has not been named, had written notes about planning to carry out attacks in both her former primary school in Farevejle and a Jewish school in Copenhagen.

The girl was arrested last year at her home in a village 40 miles west of Copenhagen after her family alerted the police about suspicious chemical experiments in the basement.

She was 15 at the time of her arrest.

In a statement, the court said that investigators discovered a range of chemicals purchased at a Danish cosmetic chain store.

According to experts, the ingredients gathered by the girl to produce the high explosive acetone peroxide (TATP) were not adequate to build a dangerous bomb.

The court, however, underlined her criminal intent and motivations in the ruling.

While searching her residence, police found a handwritten note with the words "Allahu Akbar!" (God is great), a date, and the address of the Jewish school in Copenhagen.

Police also found a second note that was marked "bomb attack on the infidels." The note gave the address of her school near Holbaek, a town west of Copenhagen.

The girl was convicted today of "attempting a terrorist act." Under Danish law, attempting a "terror attack" can lead to life imprisonment.

She will receive her final sentencing on Thursday.
