More than 12,000 demonstrators gathered in Los Angeles on Sunday to demand that Congress imitate impeachment proceedings against President Trump. The "Impeachment March" took place in conjunction with marches in 44 other U.S. cities, including New York, San Diego, San Francisco, and Philadelphia.

Protesters castigated Trump actions that they said violate the Constitution and accused him of using the presidency to enrich himself and his associates. They also called him out for his repeated verbal attacks on the media and restrictions on media access to White House briefings and operations, which they said amount to suppression of free speech.

"We believe president Trump has committed constitutional breaches, consistently lied, cheated, and enforces laws that primarily benefit him and his billionaire friends at the expense of the country," states the organization's website, impeachmentmarch.org.

The Los Angeles marchers heard a headline speech by Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Sherman Oaks), who has drafted and circulated articles of impeachment in the House. Sherman's impeachment articles charge Trump with obstructing the FBI investigation into his disgraced ex-national security advisor, Michael Flynn.

Another Democratic congressman, Rep. Al Green (D-Texas), spoke at a rally in Austin. He led protesters in a Pledge of Allegiance following the speech.

The San Diego rally had only a few dozen attendees. Other small rallies took place on the opposite side of the country. Among them were a 150-person demonstration in Philadelphia and a gathering of 100 demonstrators in Boston.

Philadelphia police made several arrests after scuffles broke out between the crowd and accounted-demonstration of around 50 Trump supporters. No serious injuries were reported.
