LaVar Ball to sell $495 shoes

LaVar Ball, father of Lonzo Ball, is attempting to sell an almost $500 shoe.

Lonzo Ball, a basketball player who starred last season at the University of California Los Angeles, is likely to become a top draft pick in the 2017 National Basketball Association Draft. LaVar Ball, who has been an outspoken presence surrounding his prodigious children for his bravado and entrepreneurial spirit, announced on Thursday that their Big Baller Brand would be unveiling a new shoe, the ZO2, which has a $495 asking price.

Questions have abounded surrounding the shoe, which has a strict non refund policy on it. The shoe will not ship until November and there have been conflicting reports about exactly how many shoes have been sold. LaVar Ball joined the cast of Fox Sports One program,Undisputed, to speak about his son, Lonzo. Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless pressed Ball on the exact sales number of the shoe. Ball gave a joking answer of 495, an answer that mirrored the price. Ball then clarified that at least 495 pairs of the shoe had been sold. 495 shoes sold over an opening weekend would be troubling for large corporations such as Adidas or Under Armour, but the independent Ball showed no signs of a lack of confidence.

According to Nicekicks.com, the inventory levels for Big Baller Brand indicate that only 328 total transactions had been undertaken since the shoe was unveiled less than 24 hours ago. That includes all other apparel items on the site.
