Paul Manafort, former campaign chairman for President Donald Trump, disclosed Tuesday that he received a whopping $17.1 million for his work on behalf of a Ukrainian political party between 2012 and 2013, according to a registration form submitted to the U.S. Justice Department.

Manafort registered under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), which requires disclosure of any political work done for foreign powers, reports Bloomberg.

Manafort was forced to resign as Trump's campaign chairman in August 2016 when it was reported by The New York Times that his name appeared on a list of off-the-books accounts showing he received as much as $12.7 million from toppled Moscow-backed Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych.

Trump's former campaign chairman has denied getting any illicit cash payments.

"I have never received a single off-the-books cash payment, as falsely 'reported' by The New York Times, nor have I ever done work for the governments of Ukraine or Russia," said Manafort in a statement to ABC News.

For over a decade, Manafort helped Yanukovych win presidential elections that put Ukraine back under Russia's umbrella until a 2014 revolution toppled him from power.

"Today, Paul Manafort registered with the Department of Justice's unit for his work on behalf of Ukraine's Party of Regions," said his spokesman, Jason Maloni, in a statement. "He started this process in concert with FARA's unit in September before the outcome of the election and well before any formal investigation of election interference began."

Manafort is widely believed to be one of Trump's associates currently under investigation by special prosecutor Robert Mueller and a focus of congressional probes into Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. election.
