President Trump made a point of criticizing the flailing ratings of Schwarzenegger, who replaced him as the host ofThe Apprenticeafter the former became U.S. President.
"Wow, the ratings are in and Arnold Schwarzenegger got "swamped" (or destroyed) by comparison to the ratings machine, DJT. So much forbeing a movie star-and that was season 1 compared to season 14. Now compare him to my season 1. But who cares, he supported Kasich & Hillary," tweeted Trump.
Schwarzenegger announced on Friday. that he would not be returning for the next season ofThe Apprentice.
"I loved every second of working with NBC and Mark Burnett," said Schwarzenegger. "Everyone from the celebrities to the crew to the marketing department was a straight 10, and I would absolutely work with all of them again on a show that doesn't have this baggage."
Schwarzenegger later toldEmpire magazine that the "baggage" to which he was referring was U.S. President Donald Trump.
"With Trump being involved in the show, people have a bad taste and don't want to participate as a spectator or as a sponsor or in any other way support the show," said Schwarzenegger in the Empireinterview. "It's a very divisive period now, and I think this show got caught up in all that division."
President Trump returned fire, claiming that Schwarzenegger did not have a choice in leaving the show.
"Arnold Schwarzenegger isn't voluntarily leaving the Apprentice, he was fired by his bad (pathetic) ratings, not by me. Sad end to great show," tweeted Trump on Saturday.
