Scientists from NASA had I insisted late last year that no sign of any space rock would Impact the planet for at least one hundred years.
So far this estimation and prophecy have been right. But the point that they had not seen the space rock the size of a ten-storey building proves there may be some concern.
NASA state that they need to discover a meteor at least four years before it impacts the planet. But this rock was found only two days before impact.
Though it was not on a collision course for earth, it still passed by incredibly close.
Though it was not big enough to course initiation, it would still be able to cause considerable damage to the planet. Similar to the meteor that hit Russia in 2004. NASA estimate that the meteor passed only half the distance the moon is from the earth.
"We caught newly discovered asteroid 2017 AG13 as it made an extremely close approach to Earth this morning. It was closer than the Moon," NASA said. "The space rock soared past our planet a mere two days after scientists first discovered it, which doesn't seem like enough time to prepare for a catastrophic collision."
It would cause considerable damage if it came close enough to by sucked by the earth's magnetic pull.
