Well, 2017 started just as bad when he was called by Donald Trump to Trump Towers to talk about how they can help reduce the divide.
But the backlash the comedian and TV host has received has surprised him and hurt him. He said that going to Trump Towers excited him even though there was very vocally against Trump during the campaign. But Harvey explains that Trump has already won, and it is either the black community work with him or left behind.
"Change can only happen when we sit at the table," said Steve Harvey. ""If we sit at the table, then we can have a say as to what's to be eaten on the menu, I have an obligation to take a seat at the table when invited."
But after the meeting, social media went to an uproar saying he should not have gone and seen Trump. He has defended himself vigorously and said he just wanted to hear what the president-elect had to say. But he continued and mentioned that h was quite impressed by Trump's response to his request to help in the inner cities housing problem.
"I've never seen anybody jump into action so quickly at a request," Harvey exclaimed. "Trump immediately got Dr. Ben Carson on the phone."
