A new ABC News/Washington Post poll shows an almost unprecedented number of Americans have grave concerns about the Trump presidency, giving him the lowest approval rating of any president in 70 years.

Down six points from polls taken at President Trump's 100-day milestone, his approval rating now stands at just 36 percent, according to ABC News.

And in what can only be troubling news to Republican senators trying to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA) better known as Obamacare Americans prefer the ACA over the GOP's plan by a 2-1 margin. People responding to the survey also reject broad cuts to Medicaid, saying by 63-27 percent that it is better to provide health care to the poor than to cut taxes.

Americans also do not trust Trump to handle international affairs. Sixty-six percent do not have confident in him to negotiate with Russian President Vladimir Putin or other world leaders, while 55 percent say he has failed to make significant progress toward his goals. By a split of 48-27 percent, people say the United States has become weaker in the world arena under Trump.

About 60 percent of those polled think Russians tried to influence the 2016 presidential election and of those, 72 percent believe Trump benefited from the interference. Sixty-seven percent think people associated with the Trump campaign intentionally abetted Russian meddling, while 63-26 percent believe it was inappropriate for Donald Trump Jr. to meet with a Russian lawyer to obtain damaging opposition information about Hillary Clinton.

Not surprisingly, the survey results show the deep partisan divide among voters across the U.S. Among Republicans, Trump has an 82 percent approval rating, while Democrats give him just 11 percent. But for the crucial group of independents, only 32 percent approve of the job Trump is doing.
