Keith Schiller, President Trump's longtime bodyguard, was questioned Tuesday by the House Intelligence Committee investigating alleged Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

Schiller was questioned for four hours behind closed doors, according to a report by Bloomberg. He declined to speak to reporters when he left the committee chambers.

The former bodyguard began working for Trump in 1999, but left the White House in August as head of Oval Office operations. He was present during nearly every one of Trump's conversations and phone calls during the campaign, former aides said.

Schiller was with Trump during the 2013 Miss Universe pageant in Moscow, when the controversial Steele dossier alleges salacious activities took place. He also was the one who hand-delivered Trump's letter dismissing former FBI Director James Comey to the Justice Department.

Before being employed by Trump in 1999, Schiller served in the Navy and as a New York City police officer. In 2004, he was appointed head of security for the Trump Organization.

Schiller also became Trump's friend and confidant, the Bloomberg report said. When Schiller left the White House in August for a private security job, aides were concerned that his departure would leave Trump feeling isolated and off-kilter.

Schiller reportedly visited the White House on Oct. 26.

Although Schiller was not questioned under oath, it is a crime carrying a five-year prison sentence to make false statements to Congress.

The committee also plans to interview Glenn Simpson, whose research firm, Fusion GPS, helped compile the Steele dossier.
