Since President Donald Trump took office, the image of the U.S. around the world is in sharp decline, according to a poll by the Pew Research Center.

The survey, which polled people in 37 countries from North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia, and Africa, found that approval for the U.S. president and his policies dropped in every country except Russia and Israel.

When President Obama left office, a global median of 64 percent was disposed favorably to the U.S. Now, only 49 percent has a positive view. And only 22 percent is confident that Trump will do the right thing on the international stage.

Many of Trump's policy initiatives are viewed negatively around the globe. Trump's plan to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, for example, is opposed by a median of 76 percent, according to the poll. In Mexico, that number rises to 94 percent.

Most countries surveyed also oppose Trump's efforts to impose a travel ban against six mostly Muslim countries and his withdrawal from the Paris climate accords.

People around the world further see Trump's own characteristics negatively.

"Most say he is arrogant, intolerant and dangerous, while few think of him as well-qualified or as someone who cares about ordinary people," the Pew Report said.

On the positive side, nearly 60 percent of those surveyed have a good impression of Americans, particularly in Europe and Asia. But while about two-thirds have favorable views of American film, television, and music, 54 percent are concerned that the import of U.S. popular culture into their own countries is detrimental.
