Singer John Mayer recovers after emergency appendectomy

John Mayer is in the hospital recovering from an emergency appendectomy surgery, causing his Tuesday night concert to be postponed.

John Mayer is recovering in the hospital after going in for an emergency appendectomy this Tuesday morning.

The emergency procedure forced theYour Body is a Wonderlandsinger to cancel his concert scheduled for Dec. 5 with Dead & Company at the Smoothie King center in New Orleans.

"Early this morning, John Mayer was admittedto the hospital for [an] emergency appendectomy forcing the Dead & Company Dec 5th concert in New Orleans to be postponed," the band said in a statement.

"All tickets for the Dec 5 show will be honoured for the rescheduled date. Information on the rescheduled date will be announced as soon as possible. Should ticket holders choose to seek a refund, they will be available at point of purchase."

Mayer was finishing up the second leg of hisSearch for Everything Worldtour with the band Dead & Company-- fronted by Grateful Dead foundersBill Kreutzmannand Bob Weir, along with Mickey Hart.

Bob Weir tweeted a photowith his bandmate, captioning it, "Wishing a speedy recovery for John. Get well soon my friend."

No word has been made yet if Mayer will be well enough to finish his tour with a show scheduled forfor Thursday, Dec. 7 in Orlando and a Friday, Dec. 8 show in Fort Lauderdale.
