The Earth is about to be totally destroyed: claim

The Earth is going to be wiped out on Sept. 23, claims a "Christian numerologist" based on the recent solar eclipse and Hurricane Harvey.

If you like outlandish theories about how the world will end, get ready for a doozy. A "Christian numerologist" has determined that a gigantic plantic will swing past Earth on Sept. 23, causing volcanoes, earthquakes, and total destruction to usher in the Rapture and the second coming of Jesus Christ.

David Meade, a Christian numerologist, says that Luke 21:25-26 predicts that this will happen, with the solar eclipse and Hurricane Harvey as signs that portend to this cataclysmic event. He believes that a "Planet X" will pass so close to Earth that it will wipe out life on Earth and bring back the son of God.

Here's what those verses state: "25: There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. 26: Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken."

This theory has been around since the 1990s, when a woman claimed to have the ability to receive messages from aliens. Christian end-times prophets have given it a Christian spin lately, and this is the latest example.
