Why Jennifer Lawrence plans to take the next year off from acting

Representatives for Lawrence say the actress will be back to work as soon as one of her new, upcoming projects is ready to go.

Over the weekend,Entertainment Tonight reported that Jennifer Lawrence plans on taking a break from acting for the next year. A representative for Lawrence, however, later confirmed that the actress will go back to work once one of her several projects that is development is ready to go.

According to her IMDB page, theRed Sparrowactress currently has seven projects in development includingRon Howard's Zelda Fitzgerald biopicZelda,Adam McKay'sBad Blood,and an untitled film from Amy Schumer.

In an interview withET on Friday, Lawrence, 27, said she would be taking a break from acting to help a non-profit fight against corruption.

"I'm going to take the next year off," she shared while doing press for her new spy-film, "I'm going to be working with this organization as a part ofRepresent.Ustrying to get young people engaged politically on a local level."

"It doesn't have anything to do with partisan [politics]," Lawrence said of her involvement with organization. "It's just anti-corruption and stuff trying to pass state by state lawsthat can help prevent corruption, fix our democracy."

Lawrence has frequently been open and vocal about speaking out on issues likewomen's rights, equality and more.In December, she was honored with theSherry Lansing Leadership AwardatThe Hollywood Reporter's 2017 Women in Entertainment Power 100 breakfast.

"It's not easy to speak out. It's not easy to face criticism on a global scale. But the fact is I have been given a platform, and if I don't use it, then I don't deserve it," Lawrence said while accepting the award."This last year has been a trying and challenging time in our world and our industry specifically. Every day, we wake up to a myriad of headlines that deeply impact us, from around the globe."
